Backstory

=Clan History=

Rokuyo was born during the sixth Astral Era in the year 1545 in the lands of Doma. Her father was a lord of Doma though tracing the clan's lineage would lead to a humble beginning in the isles of Hingashi. The Mizutanis were known for their use of fire with their blades, coining their own sword form, 'Moeru Yona Hasu' or the Flaming Lotus in Eorzean. The Mizutanis were also known to be a warring clan, often the first to be sought after in disputes that require martial prowess. The Mizutanis did have trouble finding coin outside battle, which made them struggle in times of peace, some retainers would often leave to find work, which garnered some negative reputation for the warrior clan.

=Rokuyo's Past Life=

Rokuyo was the only child of the head of the Mizutani clan, Ryo Mizutani. At the young age of 4, Rokuyo was already training with a wooden sword, gaining her first set of blades at the age of seven. A major event then happened to the Eastern country of Doma that would vastly alter Rokuyo's development and early life, the invasion of the Garlean Empire. The suppression of Doma's culture and practices began to hinder Rokuyo's development as a samurai. Parts of her clan was forfeited to the Garleans, her distant family members being conscripted into the ranks of the Garlean legions to preserve her safety with her family. This will forever fuel her hate for her conquerers. As time went on, Rokuyo slowly was able to gain an understanding of her training under the watchful eye of her father. Soon she garnered the attention of other young lords but she will find love with the son of Clan's blacksmith. This forbidden relationship was not supported by Rokuyo's father, but Murai, Rokuyo's later husband, would successfully fight for her hand. Rokuyo then married at a young age of 17.Not long after, Rokuyo was expected to become the head of the Mizutani clan. By the age of 23 she had two children, Kyuso Mizutani and Ayuri Mizutani. Despite the annexation of her country, she found a piece of relief at home with her family. Constantly, she trained and had to serve her duties to her lord.

=The fall and the Climb=

The Doman rebellion, led by Lord Kaien, was an opportunity for the people of Doma to be rid of their Garlean occupants. The Mizutani joined in these battles, and Rokuyo gained much experience first hand on how to fight her long time enemies. Even though they were gaining a foothold, it was all for naught as the Garleans sent reinforcements and decimated the rebellion. Rokuyo witnessed the slaughtering of her clan and people. She quickly fled the battlefield to try and save the rest of her family. The Garleans were merciless, they were ordered to execute and punish those who assisted in the rebellion and it was no small rumor that the Mizutanis are a big supporter of this rebellion. Time was not on Rokuyo's side as she attempted to save her family, when she arrived to her familys' estate, her children were taken away and her parents executed. There was no sign of her husband in Yanxia. Ridden with Grief and anger, she attempted to carve her way through the Garleans but was forced to leave her homeland. She was amongst the group of refugees that sailed about Hydaelyn to find safety, eventually landing in vesper bay, and settling in Mhor Dhona. This came an age of Rokuyo becoming a Ronin. Grief stricken and dealing with depression, she sought work with the adventurer's guild to supplement her unhealthy drinking habits. Rokuyo then began to just loiter in Ul'dah for sometime, meeting an abundance of friends and acquaintances who sought to remedy her of sitting at Rock Bottom. When Rokuyo heard that Doma was being reclaimed once more, she would go and join the fight. This would spark a new vigor in the samurai, fighting to possibly find her children and possibly her husband. Along with the help of her friends, she was able to find both, her husband being a long-time prisoner at Castrum Fluminis and her children found under the conscription in Garlean ranks. Even though she was not able to save her old home where the memories of her younger years were, she was satisfied with the remainder of her family, moving them to Hingashi. She went on to assist the Eorzean Alliance in freeing Ala Mhigo. In the present day she now helps the Yielding Veil Holdings as a proprietor and agent.
